The next six months

There is a Programming Meeting at An Lanntair tomorrow, to update the team on the next six months, so here is our list of projects and events planned for the next six months  April – September. Check our facebook page for events listings (@aroraanlanntair).

April 17

  • We held a dementia friendly screening at An Lanntair.
  • We are touring seated and on-your-feet dance with Louise Davidson.
  • Reminiscence and music sessions across North & South Uist, Benbecula and Barra/Vatersay has started with our Arts Practitioners.
  • Reminscence sessions with Maggie and her Wool Extravaganza with Mary Smith.
  • Working on the DEEP (Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project) funded Hills of Home project for personalising the surroundings of care centres.
  • Hospital ceilidhs in Stornoway and Barra so far
  • Planning for Conference March 18
  • Project end of year 2 evaluation
  • We were successful with Wm Grant Foundation funding application for Me Time Vouchers
  • Working on the Clisham Garden project – volunteering to clear and plant the garden and working with people in hospital to facilitate them to choose what to plant and the colours for the painting and wood staining.
  • Involvement with the Short Term Working Group for the Erisort Ward Refurbishment (Including our wall vinyls)
  • Alzheimer Scotland’s magazine featured our quilting project
  • Museum trip with Kate Macdonald to Lionacleit.
  • Sharing current arts events across the community
  • Following up Woven Communities work in South Uist with more intergenerational school work

 

  • May 17
  • Dementia friendly screenings across the community.
  • Reminiscence sessions across the Uists and Benbecula with Kate and Margaret Joan
  • Music sessions and photographic reminiscence with Duncan on Barra/Vatersay
  • Sharing Purvai festival with Dal and his Tabla drumming
  • Launch of the memory box scheme across Island libraries
  • Launch of Me Time vouchers for carers
  • Launch of a new collaborative archive film service with the library
  • Sharing the food festival
  • Working on Hospital Ceilidhs for Benbecula
  • Attending Away Days with Life Changes Trust
  • Dance continues – we will be making a film and training Activities Co-ordinators along with Maggie Smith’s Cultural Movement sessions.
  • Planning for conference March 18
  • Working on the Clisham Garden
  • Working on the Erisort Ward refurbishment
  • Working on the DEEP wall vinyls in two care settings.
  • We should be having a visit from Dementia Friendly East Lothian and going to visit them to share ideas and a funding application across two areas.
  • Tommy Whitelav visit to Barra 31st May – music from Duncan

June 17

  • Supporting people from the Western Isles to attend the DEEP gathering in Edinburgh

July 17
